I haven’t been blogging very much, and I admit, that this whole going back to work thing is a he@( of a lot harder than I thought.  There just aren’t enough hours in the day, and even if there were, I’m not sure I’d have enough energy to get through them.

Lately, I’ve been in a bit of a slump….I get up, go to work, come home, play with Max, eat dinner, put Max to bed, blank out on the couch for 30 minutes, then swiftly go to bed myself,  wake up, 3 more times to feed Max through the night, rinse, then repeat.

Yesterday, the very thought of exercise seemed impossible.  Although I’m still “training” for the Gatineau Loppet, I am lucky if I can get out for a ski 1-2 times a week.  The idea of actually following a real training schedule, you know, the type where you exercise at least 5 days a week, seems about as possible right now as building my own rocketship and flying to the moon. Technically, I could wake up an hour before Max to exercise, or do it when I get home, but I want to play with my little guy, and Rob is definitely doing more than enough cooking, cleaning and entertaining of Max that I need to do my share…oh yah, and that whole energy thing.

So exercise is one slump, family fun is another.  I realized the other day that I couldn’t even remember the last time Rob and I did something fun or a little out of the ordinary together.  Lately, if we have a quiet evening where Max actually goes to bed at a reasonable time, we collapse on the couch. I’m so tired (and usually still distracted by work) that I don’t even care if the T.V is on.  I’ll happily enjoy the peace and quiet of a black screen.

So. Enough. Is. Enough.

Introducing Tourist Tuesdays.

The goal: Break the slump and get out as a family and do one fun and touristy thing a week.  We’ve been in this city for four years now, and there are so many museums that we haven’t visited, festivals that we’ve ignored, gems sitting on our doorstep that we keep stepping over.

So….Stay tuned every Tuesday…from now until……we leave Ottawa? as I report on the fun, the frugal and the fabulous things that slumping families can do all around town! And since I’ve officially announced this to the world on my blog, it means its as good as done!

Any suggestions about your favourite family friendly activities in the Ottawa area? I would love to hear them!
